Richard E. Winter
Cancer Treatment Center

At the Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center we recognize the physical and emotional impact a diagnosis of cancer can have on you and your loved ones. We have a team of professionals working together to coordinate your care.

Our team approach begins with your first visit to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center. We gather your lab and radiology reports and films prior to your meeting with your physicians. Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center physicians and physicians from other facilities refer patients to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center.

Cancer Treatment Options:
Our
board-certified radiation oncologist leads our radiation therapy department. Our full-time medical physicist uses 3-D treatment planning to ensure that radiation is directed to the prescribed treatment area. This process minimizes damage to healthy tissue.   Radiation therapy kills cancer cells or keeps them from growing and dividing

Our medical oncologist, who is board certified in internal medicine, treats patients with chemotherapy or biotherapy. They also evaluate all aspects of your response to the prescribed treatment area. This process minimizes damage to healthy tissue.

Our certified oncology nurses provide physical, emotional and educational support to your and your family. They administer chemotherapy and assess patients receiving radiation therapy.

The Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center offers social work services to you and your family. These professionals can help you with financial concerns, decision making and coping. Our social workers can meet with you individually or as a family.

On-going support groups for patients with all types of cancer provide peer support and education. Our cancer support group coordinator facilitates meetings and arranges for guest speakers and educational materials. For more information contact:
